Madaprojects is a benefit corporation that develops and implements carbon offsetting projects in developing countries .
Our mission is to contribute to the social development of local communities , to the environmental protection of the areas in which we operate and to the fight against climate change through projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, combat global climate change and improve the living conditions of the most disadvantaged populations.
As a benefit company, we have defined and established within our corporate purpose the common good objectives that guide our activity:
- Improving the living conditions of the most disadvantaged communities through access to drinking water
- Improving the living conditions of the most disadvantaged communities through access to efficient cooking technologies
- Combat climate change by implementing interventions that reduce, avoid or absorb greenhouse gases from the atmosphere and combat deforestation
- Raise awareness among all local stakeholders on community social development and environmental protection issues
- Create qualified employment and transfer know-how and skills to the local community
- Helping organizations and individuals achieve their environmental and social sustainability goals and neutralize their climate impact
Madaprojects was founded in 2020 by Massimo Lazzari and Davide Bertapelle , professionals with many years of experience in International Cooperation and specific skills in climate finance and the management of social development and environmental protection projects .
We are based in Bologna (Italy) and Tulear (Madagascar) , and we collaborate with local partners and NGOs in several developing countries in Africa.
Our team is made up exclusively of local collaborators who are experienced and qualified in the water and clean cooking sectors .
Madaprojects is a developer of Carbon Offsetting projects with high social impact , which generate Carbon Credits certified with the main internationally accredited and recognized Carbon Standards ( Gold Standard , Verra ) .
The projects we develop fall exclusively into the community-based typology , and specifically: projects for access to drinking water (clean water) and the distribution of efficient cooking stoves (improved cookstoves).
We operate only in developing countries , and in particular in Africa .
Our positioning choice is very clear and defined:
- We do NOT provide consultancy to companies
- We do NOT develop projects in Italy or other industrialized countries
- We do NOT develop projects that do not generate a positive impact on local communities
- We do NOT sell carbon credits generated by other developers
- We do NOT develop or participate in projects that are not certifiable with internationally accredited standards
What we do instead is:
- Develop community-based carbon offsetting projects directly and in collaboration with our local partners
- Oversee all the activities necessary to generate Carbon Credits and certify them according to international methodologies and standards
- Sell Carbon Credits generated by our projects to client companies to offset their emissions
