PROJECT SUMMARY
The Indonesia Domestic Biogas Programme (IDBP) supports the construction and use of household-scale biodigesters across Indonesia. These systems convert organic waste, primarily livestock manure, into renewable biogas for household cooking and produce bioslurry for agricultural use. The programme has supported the installation of over 30,000 household biodigesters across 21 provinces and more than 3,000 villages. By enabling households to replace conventional cooking fuels and improve manure management, the programme contributes to greenhouse gas emissions reductions and rural resilience.
PROJECT IMPACTS AND BENEFITS
Programme reach: approximately 30,000 household biodigesters, benefiting approximately 163,176 people in 21 Indonesian provinces.
SDG 13 - Climate action: verified greenhouse gas emissions (methane) reductions through household biogas use and improved organic waste management.
SDG 7 - Clean energy: renewable cooking fuel for participating households.
SDG1 - No Poverty, SDG8 - Decent Work: technical skills, local employment and household energy cost savings.
SDG 2 - Zero Hunger: bioslurry can be used as an organic fertilizer, potentially reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers.
More information on the project is available in the Gold Standard Impact Registry.
